The multi-ethnic volunteer organization, Georgia Community Aid, led by President Cheonghee Park, held a ‘Volunteer Awards Ceremony’ on the 15th, marking the official start of their activities.
The event, held in Norcross, was attended by over 100 people, including politicians such as State Representatives Pedro Marin (Democrat) and Matt Reeves (Republican), candidates for this year’s local elections, and representatives from the Asian, Black, and Hispanic communities.
In his congratulatory message, Representative Matt Reeves expressed high expectations for President Cheonghee Park, who has been playing a role in connecting the Korean and Asian communities. He said, “I hope Georgia Community Aid becomes a representative organization of Georgia.”
Both representatives presented an official resolution from the Georgia General Assembly honoring President Park’s contributions and wished for the continued growth of Georgia Community Aid. In response, President Park stated, “We aim to become an organization that continuously serves and supports those in need.”
At the ceremony, Georgia Community Aid recognized a diverse group of volunteers, including those of Korean, Vietnamese, Laotian, Chinese, Black, and Hispanic descent. They awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award, their own commendations, and honors from the Georgia War Veterans Association.
President Cheonghee Park also presented a plaque of appreciation to Officer Kelvin Walls of the Atlanta Police Department (APD), acknowledging his long-standing contributions to the community.
